Activities

The Center for Religious and Lay Formation of Villa Lante invites you to plan together the many possible initiatives related to the Center.

We know that many groups will come to us with an already established project of training seminars, perhaps taking advantage of our multimedia rooms, meetings and visits around Rome. The proposals that you read in this section are intended to enrich and integrate what you have already organized. Alternatively, there is the possibility of building a program taking advantage of our many years of experience in courses, spiritual retreats and guided visits in the Roman context.

What can we do for you and with you?

Logistics services
You can request our support for logistical services even before your arrival: reservations for the Papal Audience; help in organizing trips and excursions in Italy; restaurant reservations in Rome or elsewhere; organization of transfers to and from the airport. Once at Villa Lante you can request an orientation meeting in which we provide a package of practical information which you will need to navigate the city and familiarize yourself with the Trastevere neighborhood.

If you use our multimedia rooms, we can provide interpreting services for multilingual groups.

Conferences
if you are interested, we can hold conferences about the inspiring history of the spread of the Sacred Heart schools around the world and the characteristics of its teaching methodology. We can hold conferences on the history and current affairs of Rome in Italian or English. You can also select topics of a general nature, the history of art or the history of ancient Rome.

Guided Tours
Here are some examples of guided tours in Rome that we can organize for you:

  • Sacred Heart School of Trinità dei Monti to see the original fresco of the Mater Admirabilis, reproduced in Sacred Heart Schools around the world
  • St. Peter's Basilica;
  • Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel;
  • Catacombs of San Sebastiano and walk on the Appian Way;
  • The magnificent early Christian churches: San Clemente, Santa Prassede and Santa Pudenziana;
  • Tour of the churches of Caravaggio and Bernini, the artists of the Catholic Renaissance of the 1600s.

10-hour courses, in the classroom and in the city

  • Sainte Madeleine Sophie Barat in Rome and the history of the Society of the Sacred Heart, with a visit to the Museum dedicated to her and the General Archives of the congregation
  • Ancient Rome and Christian Rome: the transition from the Capital of the Empire to the Capital of Christianity
  • The first Christian martyrs and the Christian martyrs of our time;
  • Italian art between the Renaissance and Baroque: Michelangelo, Raphael, Caravaggio, Bernini and Borromini, with guided visits to the Vatican Museums and Caravaggio's churches;
  • The social teaching of the contemporary Church, from ecology to social justice.

With the help of the community of the Society of the Sacred Heart we are planning to organize special weeks with themed guided spiritual retreats for groups in English, French, Italian and Korean or alternatively host spiritual retreats for groups with their animators.
